Event Description: Through drumming, we connect closer to our hearts and innate wisdom. Though listening to each other, we experience peace and unity. Friends of Unity Drums will gather to connect with our neighbors on May 7th for a celebration for One World Beat 2006! We will be playing traditional African rhythms as well as jamming as we go. We are honored to be part of this global echoing for Peace and Unity. |

Event Theme: As part of the One World Beat Global Gathering, drummers
will get together in San Jose to drum
traditional West Africa rhythms to honor the tradition
of unity and community love.

Background: OVF participated in the 2005 One World Beat. It was then that we introduced the idea and theme of 'Unity Drums' in 3 countries to honor unity and community life through traditional drumming traditions of West Africa. We dedicated the celebration for all children of the world.

To the right is a Buddhist mandala which was featured as part of a DharmaGates Unity Drum Event in march of 2006 at the DharmaGates Center in San Jose.
The event was part of our ongoing work to reach the heart of Silicon Valley cultivating a "seed of compassion" through chanting, drumming and learning Dharma. |

Unity Drum Taiwan: We are also excited to have 3 drumming and performing groups from Taiwan to join One World Beat this year! They are DjembeShowDancer, 06 Drum Beat and Kuku Percussion. A big warm welcome to you all! We are thrilled to be part of the convergence of cultures among the continents of Asia, America and Africa!
