River Bird,' an elementary school teacher, is the founder of the group, Sibongie. His passion for Africa music and culture, combined with his background in art, has won the appreciation of many, including the newly awarded First Place in the Individual Performance in the first ever Africa Drumming Competition in Taiwan.
'River Bird' cares for education, humanity and the environment. His creative living reflects in the art of recycling objects into wonders. He is a true living artist! |

KuKu 打擊樂團, 是以非洲金貝鼓為初始的一個表演樂團, 曲風以非洲的古老婚喪喜慶音樂為基調, 在不同的表演場合也適時的加入了拉丁、 非洲、 中東 和印度等世界融合音樂‧樂器方面, 除非洲的金貝鼓、 砂鈴、 響棒、 牛鈴外也包括巴西小鼓、 鈴鼓、 金巴利鼓、 中東咚貝鼓、 手鼓、 印度塔不拉鼓等等, 表現了世界各地不同的民族曲風‧首席鼓手 Bob為台灣最早打非洲鼓的玩家, 已有20多年的歷練, 其他成員們則來自各個不同音樂領域, 有全職的音樂家、
老師及社會人士‧ 近年來由於世界音樂在台灣廣受歡迎, 經常參與台北印度和世界音樂中心的活動及其他的藝文活動表演, 受到各方的矚目和肯定, 近年來參與的重要活動如下: @ 2003年台北兒童藝術節的鼓樂表演 @ 2004年澳洲文化節 @ 2004/5年印度文化節 @ 2004反伊戰爭鼓樂表演 @ 2005 國際旅遊展 @ 2005 汐止夢想社區嘉年華遊行 @ 其他大小晚會、 尾牙和開幕等演出‧ KuKu這個團名取自一首通俗的西非節奏, 早期是婦女們歡慶捕魚歸來的一首舞曲, 如今則是各種節慶中最常演唱的曲子‧ 從命名上可以看到這個樂團尋根和追求願景的想法‧ KuKu樂團的創始人是資深音樂家查理老師, 由他親自帶領定期每週嚴格練習, 除了採用非洲鼓狂野奔放的節奏外, 並編排了拉丁巴西等世界融合音樂的特色, 讓KuKu樂團有更多樣的風格, 展現出團員的無盡能量! 目前正式團員約有十餘人, 平常每次表演以5~6人左右為主‧

Kuku Percussion is a performing group playing African traditional djembes rhythms.
Over the years, the group also added instruments and styles from around the world: Latin, Middle East, India, Brazil and bring the world's traditions together to share with the communities. The members in Kuku Percussion come from different walks of life: professional musicians, teachers and professionals. In recent years, world music has become popular in Taiwan. Kuku Percussion's musical and cultural outreach have won the popularity tremendously!

The name of 'Kuku' came from the drumming rhythm from West Africa. Originally, Kuku was played when the women came back from fishing. Today, Kuku is a popular rhythm played at all kinds of festivals. The founder of Kuku Percussion is an experienced musician, Teacher Charles, who leads disciplined training to expand the horizon of the skills and artist expression of the group members. |
