Corporate Partners

NComputing - We are using NComputing thin-clients and have been working with them in developing a center in Northern Ghana. They offer low cost thin clients arranged in chains of up to 35 per server. This reduces costs and the power needed to operate the system.

Semantic Seed is a business incubator working with OVF to promote and develop our Ecotourism & Service Learning Program as a "Holistic ICT EcoPartner." We are also working on creating programs at telecenters to incubate businesses and promote the effective localization of information technology. The theme for their part of the program is virtualization doing "More With Less." See their website or our article about the partnership for more.

Latitude Broadband is working with OVF to demo and prototype low cost Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) management systems at the Winneba Open Digital Village. The goal is to enable "last-mile" technology for bridging the digital divide. and "expanding the reach of IP transport services to the emerging markets." NGO Partners

Inveneo supports the development of highly sustainable and affordable ICT infrastructure technologies designed specifically for organizations that provide vital services in remote and rural areas in the developing world. OVF Ghana is an Inveneo Certified Partner (ICIP) and has the competency to deploy low-cost low-power computing solution even in the remotest villages in Ghana.

International Free and Open Source Foundation (iFOSSF) - iFOSSF accelerate the development and usage of FOSS ICT approaches worldwide for sustained economic and social development. The purpose is to apply leadership in support of innovation and creativity in research and development of FOSS solutions for the benefit of the global community. We work with iFOSSF to promote FOSS solutions to NGOs as a complete ecosystem approach to promote collective intelligence.

Commonwealth of Learning (COL) is a intergovernmental organization created by Commonwealth Heads of Government to encourage the development and sharing of open learning/distance education knowledge, resources and technologies. COL helped OVF Ghana develop open and distance learning modules for its first Open Digital Village deployment in Winneba Ghana.

International Institute for Communication and Development(IICD) IICD creates practical and sustainable solutions using both modern media (such as computers, Internet, email and multimedia) and traditional media (such as radio and television) to connect people and enable them to benefit from ICT, thereby contributing to the Millennium Development Goals. We are working with them to develop a replicable model for using telecenters as a way to bridge the digital divide.

University of Education Winneba, Ghana focuses on educational development in Ghana. As the largest educational university in Ghana it trains teachers for deployment throughout Ghana with a enrollment of about 7000 students. Seeing the key role that ICT plays in the modernization process, it has made increased investments in that sector. OVF is working with the ICT center at UEWG to design technology solutions empowering student teachers on the use of ICT to educate students in Ghana. Working together we plan to leapfrog existing development models with our approach to address the many complex and challenging problems Ghana faces today in new and innovative ways.

National Tsing Hua University, is a key partner in our OVF Ecotourism and Service Learning Program. OVF's Joy Tang through a speech at the NTHU inspired enough students and staff to consider developing a program to enable 10 students to travel from Taiwan to Ghana in August of 08. Follow up efforts include training programs, planning for the Summer 09 field trip to Ghana and a consulting capacity to aid NTHU College to develop a more holistic approach to learning.

Santa Clara University through its Leavey School of Business Global Fellows Program has selected two students to represent SCU for a summer internship at the Winneba Open Digital Village (WODiV).
