Despite sociopolitical stability and varous efforts put forward by the government and its development partners, Kenya remains to be among the poorest countries in the sub Saharan Africa and the world in general.

Objective
OVF Kenya aspires to empower poor and marginalized people and to assist them to increase their ability to demand basic services, seek opportunities and utilize local potentials. This will be achieved through networking, infrastructure development as well as training in various relevant skills including information and communications technologies (ICT), sustainable development and various other relevant skill sets.

Goals:

Develop prototype Multipurpose Community and Unity Centers to enable the rapid transition from dependency to economically empowered communities.

Offer easy access to information enabling people to make informed decisions reflecting their goals and interests.

Provide training and logistical support to maximize local self-reliance and productivity by ensuring sustainable livelihoods.

Ensure the sustainable development of human as well as ecological resources.

Strategic Plan
OVF Kenya's three year strategic plan focuses on establishing Multupurpose Community and Unity Centers at three locations including Nairobi (Kibera), Kisumu and Rift Valley (Ogiek) to deliver services to people in those regions as consistent with our approach and mission. These centers will have amenities such as a ICT training room, offices, counseling rooms, community multipurpose Hall among other things. The centers will be designed to be self-funding through the development of income generating ventures.

Proposed Projects:

Kibera ICT Promotion Project - While offering services to the Kibera one of Nairobi's largest slums it will also serve as OVF Kenya Headquarters.

Ogiek Community Centre for Empowerment - Located in the Rift Valley, this tribe has struggled with government authorities as well as surrounding tribes. This center will seek promote innovative business development focusing on sustainable agriculture to improve quality of life in the region.
