OVF is proud to announce our plans to develop the first Open Digital Village in Africa which we are calling the Winneba Open Digital Village (WODiV) or less formally as "The Village".

Rationale: Consensus is growing in the development community that more interdisciplinary and multi-sector approaches are needed to meet such ambitious goals as mentioned above. We believe that our integrated Development model/method is at the cutting edge of this movement and that it has the potential to develop into a successful bottom up economy approach with proper funding and network support.

Initial ODiV Rollout: The initial facility will test out ICT best practices which is set to be fully operational by Sept of this year. This we expect will culminate in the rollout of a comprehensive approach to community development, including a social enterprise model to facilitate rapid replication of this program in emerging markets.

Program Design: The program is designed to address World Urgent Issues like AIDS, Global Climate Change, loss of biodiversity, growing water scarcity and poverty by promoting appropriate sustainable technologies relevant to local needs. At the same time, our goal is to eventually develop these innovative approaches and technologies into lucrative businesses so that these centers can eventually not only pay for themselves but actually finance the development of other centers in their respective region, while also commercializing these technologies locally.
