| The Field Agent is the seed of
the community healing process, reaching out to others
and bringing them together. The Field Agent has a tool
kit designed to help break through barriers of fear,
alienation and ignorance and replace them with trust,
collaboration and knowledge.
The first tool is relationships. The
Field Agent naturally, and with a will to do so, makes
friends among all people. The Field Agent shows love,
strength and wisdom in her or his bearing, smile and
voice, opening an inner door in others. When the Field
Agent travels to bring healing and revitalization to
a community, she or he is usually accompanied by old
and newfound friends who know the people they are going
to see, and who want to help create the trust that is
needed to begin, by sharing their trust in the Field
Agent with those who trust them.
Portable ICT componentry is the second;
tools such as cameras and video cameras. These portable
tools help empower the agent as he/she does their work
in the field chronicling not only the work but the people
whom the work gives life to and make it compelling as
something that the world needs to see. Tools should
be designed to be hardy, durable and easy to use so
that minimum time is spend training people to use them.
Knowledge is the third tool. Access
to the vast reserves of knowledge that are already and
will be made available through the Internet is vital
to effective field efforts. Field Agents self-select
through their wide range of natural interests, and great
ability to learn how things in life work, how they fit
together into systems, and ways to harness their value
for humans and the natural communities they depend
on. In addition, the Field Agent uses proven processes
to help communities to unite, heal, work together, and
plan the revitalization of their economies, creating
Prosperity.
Finally the fourth tool is the Internet-enabled
ICT platform, often made of recycled components,
to join hundreds of thousands of villages with each
other and the rest of the world. |

It sounds outlandish to some but in India local
farmers are now becoming traders. The e-Choupal
system is empowering local farmers through an
online trading system that allows them to make
trades to maximize the price they get for their
crops. We see such programs as key tools in
empowering the bottom up economy.
