Godfred Prebbie takes pride in his
ability to inspire people. He and his brother Kafui
have taken a leadership role in Ghana helping to inspire
people particularly youth to see the value in themselves
and to build on that to create a prosperous existence
for themselves and to extend that to others in the community.
Some practical examples of this include the development
and implementation of the CatchITyoung
and “Sports
People That Care” Projects in Ghana.
Over the last ten years, Godfred has gained valuable
experience working in the manufacturing sector specializing
in plant safety, developing and refining
various techniques to promote behavior modification
and teamwork building in the workplace.
To complement this experience he has been involved with
various committees that have focused on further refinement
of Industrial Behavioral Science in
Ghana. While working full time in manufacturing, Godfred
has been pursuing a degree in Administration
(Finance) at the University of Ghana, Legon.
His background as a Computer Technician
has been helpful ,as his developing understanding of
agribusiness has given him a strong sense of how Information
and Communication Technologies (ICT) will play a key
role in maximizing the potential of agribusiness development
in Ghana.
Godfred sees the importance of agribusiness in the
development of the Ghana economy, particularly the rural
economy. He has developed considerable contacts and
experience in working with the local community to promote
sustainable, community based agribusinesses. One notable
achievement has been the formation of a local farmer
cooperative, the SROWIE
Mixed Farmers Cooperative Society located in the
Central Region in Ghana in Jukwa.
He has a strong sense that people need to come together
and work collectively, pooling resources for the
holistic development of rural communities.
He refers to the African proverb that says “One
tree does not make a forest.” He says that it
is only through the pooling of knowledge, expertise
and resources that we achieve the desired results in
life.
