The "Clean-up Abuja Campaign 2002"

The "Clean-up Abuja Campaign 2002" held in November was a huge success with over 3500 participants from various secondary schools in Abuja. The global issues initiatives developed during this campaign exercise represents a renewed approach to global issues in relation specifically to Information Technology and the emerging global system that undergrids it.

Comprehensive approaches and clean-up exercises were actually carried out. Clean-up Abuja 2002 was just the beginning. The real work was to come afterwards. People immediately begin to take measures at that time to ensure that there would be rules after the "Clean-up Abuja 2002" on environment and development to take care of the follow-up process. It was planned that after the campaign, progress would be made.

During the event research and information gathering was carried out in the area of health care as well as environmental studies related to ecological improvement and measures preventing the spread of epidemic diseases. During the event projects at various sites and locations were carried out in coordinated manners with each other. This was done to show the practical value that Information Communication Technology can to address urgent issues in Nigeria.
