of the U0E ICT Center and Director of OVF Ghana presided
over the event. Freebies for the event will include
banners, t-shirts, posters and CDs for distribution.
About WILUG: WILUG is
the third tertiary Linux User Group in Ghana. Because
of its location at the University of Education Winneba
Ghana, teachers when they graduate from the University
can take Linux to the rest of the country. Free and
Open Source Software is the option. WILUG is designed
to promote training and education about the superior
performance of FLOSS and Linux Software as compared
to proprietary platforms. We believe that widespread
application of Open Source software will not only reduce
costs for ICT (which is a major consideration particularly
in developing countries) deployment but also promote
more reliable systems that can do more with less. Therefore
we believe that the promotion of Linux along with open
source will lead to more effectiveness in reducing the
digital divide.

Thin Client Demonstration: In conjunction
with Maxwell Amuzu of Linux Africa User Group (LAUG),
4-5 computers were for the Thin Client demonstration.
Thin client machines cost little while having much of
the function of normal PCs. Thin clients are one tool
which if applied properly can enable us to bridge the
digital divide.
