and the & The Unresolved Challenges to Cultures:
A Critical Dialogue between Current and Future Leaders
from all Continents (download
Conference Program ).”
The Young Think Tank of the Club of Rome is part of
the Club of Rome.
CoR’s mission
is to act as a global catalyst of change that is free
of any political, ideological or business interest.
CoR through the world problematique,
which explores the complexity of the world’s most
crucial political, social, economic, technological,
environmental, psychological and cultural problems facing
humanity in a highly integrated way. This includes a
global, long term and interdisciplinary perspective
that stresses the increasing interdependence
of nations and the globalisation of problems that pose
predicaments beyond the capacity of individual countries.
Below is an excerpt from his submission to the tt30
nominating committee which is titled world problematique
central questions: Potential Solutions (download
full document ):
The theme for development and
surviving in the 21st Century is partnerships.
Partnerships of all kinds in the civil society,
corporate and governmental sectors. This phenomenon
of the problematique necessitates the formation
of networks of all kinds such as CoR, tt30 and
ITU Youth
Forum Alumni’s global h-network. Through
today’s research, debates dialogues and
workshops within these networks provides a fertile
ground is cultivated for tomorrow’s development
policies, strategies and actions.
Ecologists tell us that nature is not really
shaped in the form of a pyramid as human systems
are, but rather as nonlinear cycling loops that
transport nutrients and energy from system to
system in transmissions belts that constantly
and dynamically interact with each other. They
include basic life support systems such as the
hydrologic, nitrogen and carbon cycles. Thus
there is urgent need to redefine success in
an effort to re-conceptualize what it means
to live in a civilized society. This means that
we must reconstruct from the ground up what
it means to live in terms of our authentic human
needs. |
The complementary nature of OVF and CoR focus and work,
will we anticipate be better realized through Kafui
Prebbie’s membership in tt30. We also decided
to support Kafui in his application to the Young Think
Tank of the Club of Rome based on our belief that his
acceptance to this program would increase the voice
of Africans within global policy making bodies leading
to more consistent and effective development strategies.
We believe that through his well honed communications
skills he has evolved to take a leadership role acting
as bridge between global elites, national elites and
local grassroots efforts towards sustainable development.
