About the oneVillage Foundation

Background/History

oneVillage.biz Consulting and Business Solutions is the brain child Joy Tang, a former Cisco business development executive. Her work for Cisco in Africa made her aware of the compelling and urgent need to take action to help underserved communities not only in Africa, but throughout the world.

oneVillage Foundation which originally began as the AIDS Relief Foundation seeks to build a global social network, which includes people from all over the world and from all types of fields and areas of expertise. We are determined to remake the world by coming together, village by village.

The Forty Million Hopefuls presentation Joy Tang gave to Congress in 2003 was based on the evolutionary process of developing OVF into a social enterprise driven venture. This presentation was the basis for the development of the oneVillage.biz website, which emphasizes social entrepreneurship and market development.

Our vision

We see the united global village - the human heart of gold - caring for each other's well-being and celebrating life.

Mission

To build an ICT platform that serves the heart of the community, and to establish businesses that meet its economic and environmental needs. oneVillage.biz is focusing on building a bottom-up economy. To do this we are looking at how information and communication technologies can aid in the process of not only alleviating poverty but in promoting ecologically and socially conscious economic development (www.onevillagefoundation.org).
