Kennedy Onjweru Odhiambo is a Kenyan by
nationality, and is an active member of One Village Foundation
Kenya (OVF-Kenya). He also is currently working with The
African Centre for Human Advocacy (ACHA) as a Peace
Building and an Advocacy Officer, working in the South Sudan.
He is graduated from Mindolo Ecumenical Foundation,
Pan-Africa institute in Peace Building and Conflict transformation
Studies. For more than four years, Odhiambo has been
involved in Community peace initiatives in Kenya, Uganda and
Southern Sudan especially working with young people and facilitating
youth forums geared towards address resource based and institutional
conflicts as well as Social transformation and human rights
issues.
In 1999, he formed the Kibera Youth Programme for
Peace and Development, KYPPEDE, an organization that
became so strong in addressing conflict issues and social
injustices in Kibera slums (The biggest slum
in Eastern and Central Africa) in Nairobi. The organization’s
work became one of the best community initiatives case studies
in the Global Partnership for Prevention of Armed
Conflicts - GPPAC). Between 2002 - 2004, Kennedy
also managed to coordinate Nairobi Youth Network for
Peace, an umbrella organization that brought more
fifty youth organization in Kenya under the National
Council of NGO’s Peace-Net - Kenya.
Kennedy is a member and facilitator in several peace organizations
including - Coalition for Peace in Africa -
COPA, a member organization that brings together
African Peace practitioners, representing Horn of Africa Region
as a Voluntary focal point. he also actively participates
as a member of the International Action Network Against
Small Arms - IANSA. He is interested in sharing
information/experience and working in areas of Peace Building,
social justice, human rights and community development initiatives.
