Erich Kohler, born in Zurich, Switzerland, also lives
in Switzerland. However he did recently expand his experience
into the US while working for Cisco. He core areas of experience
and expertise include technology and communication, customer
care, customer management, solution development, indirect
sales and manage partner sales.
He started at Philips NV, with the basic
education and studies in Radio-Telecommunication. Later he
held various positions at Swissair (responsibility
for maintenance on radio- and navigation equipment),
Reuters News Agency (pre-sales and implementation
of a ForEx information system), DEC, Digital Equipment
Corporation (engineer - supervisor with responsibility
for call center, installation and operations of installation
in financial markets - Service Account Manager in the Finance
Market - Price Manager - Novell Program Manager
- Microsoft Program Manager - Communication
Manager), Cisco Systems, Channel
Account Manager. He has experience creating and implementing
new services, developing new partners and negotiating service
contracts for larger networks. More recently he involved in
the Deployment of the new IP Backbone at Swisscom,
and was sales manager at the largest ISP Bluewin
in Europe. Today Erich works at a subsidiary of Deutsche
Telekom as IP Project manager.
Erich provides OVF with significant and broad experiences
in IT and sales. He sees his strengths as being able to listen
to customer needs, to be creative and flexible, and to develop
solutions in often complex and challenging situations. These
are the kind of attributes that are very much needed in developing
countries, specifically Africa. This business experience will
be used to help onevillage to develop technology solutions
that can aid our ability to "Bridge the Digital Divide".
Erich also sees his role as linking OVF's global operations
with Europe / Switzerland.
