Economy Pillar: Maximize opportunities for individuals to be the creators and owners of common wealth.

We promote social enterprise solutions that integrate ICT with sustainable development in both developing and developed regions of the world. We are dedicated to increasing collaboration and access to ICT in under-served communities all over the world as part of a process of building local problem-solving capabilities. Central to this is increasing the level of economic opportunity for all who share our commitment to socially conscious and sustainable economic development.

Economy and Sustainable Business Development in Nigeria

Project cost: $100,000

Project Status: We recently competed in the Global Giving Innovation Marketplace Content with 150 other social enterprise projects. We are currently working with them to develop the Integrated Food and Waste Management System that has been developed by Dr. George Chan of the Zero Emissions Research Initiative.

Project Name: OVF Nigeria Social Enterprise Program

Vision: Develop a sustainable devleopment prototype in Nigeria that can be rapidly replicated as a way to address urgent social economic and ecological issues in Nigeria focusing on rural regions.

Rationale: OVF Nigeria is putting together a social enterprise program that will utilitize a microfinance program to raise funds to implement the oneVillage Initiative in targetted communities in Nigeria. As part of this program we plan to replicate the existing microfinance program that is being used by is focused on distributing yorgurt products and also harvesting Casavah. County director Olapo Aboila has signed a contract with Fan Milk PLC to distribute their frozen yogurt treats.

Design: We are working with Fantsuam Foundation a NGO based in Nigeria that is looking to expand their existing microfinance program which is aimed at women in the communities they are currently operating out of in Nigeria. This includes the development of a sustainable agriculture program.

Goals:

1.

Stimulate sustainable economic growth in marginalized communities in Nigeria

2.

Help disadvantaged groups including AIDS affected groups and women

Target Groups: Margalized communinties in rural Nigeria.

The Solo Computer has great potential in addressing ICT for Development need in Nigeria.

Promotion and Sale of Indigneous Cultural and Value Added Agricultural Product using the Internet

Project Status: We currently are looking at various products to promote including working with Fantsuam Foundation to sell and distribute goods produced there.

Proposal Name: E-commerce Portal

Location: to be determined but presumably centered around the development of Unity Centers

Vision: To create a local economy that is empowered by innovative ICT that enables local people to make a descent living producing high quality, high value products.

Rationale: One of the goals of oneVillage.biz is to promote social enterprise solutions for underserved communities. One of the things we will be doing is implement asocial enterprise concept in Africa to develop the is developing an E-commerce portal selling products and services from Africa. Monies raised will go toward expanding capacity in Africa and building a coordinating Unity Center in USA (probably located in the Bay Area).

Design: The design of the program will include addressing both the promotion of products and the investment in raw materials and tools through Micro-financing mentioned above.

Proposal Name: Unity Center Eco-Tourism Program

Location: to be determined but presumably centered around the development of Unity Centers

Vision: To create a ecotourism program that takes into account local culture, natural aesthetics.

Rationale: We will promote to stimulate a more roots driven knowledge exchange between cultures that is based on mutual valuation of each others culture's and ways of living.

Design: Develop a full immersion education program that complements and augments conventional learning programs. This will include hands on experiments that will cultivate critical as well as whole systems thinking that chellenges preconcieved notions of reality.

Goals:

Promote sustainable economic development

2.

promote a knowledge exchange between cultures that is mutually beneficial

3.

Provide rewarding jobs for local people
