Ecology Projects Pillar

Read more about Ecology Pillar

Sustainable Agriculture and wise land use management is a key component of sustainable development particularly in rural regions.

Ecology and Sustainable Land Use Management Services

This program is designed to showcase more sustainable and healthy agricultural practices that at the same time increases the viability of sustainable practices in regards to land management and development. We aim to develop Unity Centers to develop viable agricultural and natural resource management practices and train people so that these best practices can be replicated in other regions in Ghana as well as Africa. To do this we need to:

1.

Identify where ecological devastation is occurring and organize communities to bring and end to those practices

2.

Rstore the land through innovative practices

3.

Teach villagers and farmers how to market traditionally-produced crops as organic, and how to do the record keeping necessary for organic certification

4.

Organize fair-trade marketing services for organic products in urban markets in Africa and abroad

Project Name: Jukwa Farmers Coop

Location: Jukwa, Ghana

Vision: A thriving market in Africa to produce healthy food sustainably. Smallholder farming as an alternative to the current corporate agribusiness model reducing poverty and ensuring quality food production through cooperative and integrated farming practices that empower small farmers.

Project Design and Rationale: Work with rural and semi-urban communities in identifying economically viable organic farming operations. We are identifying global organic farming network and technology to build the model for self-sustaining community living. By sustaining the small communities, many of them are in the rural areas in the developing countries, migration from the rural area to urban area would be corrected which will contribute into the balance growth of the human evolution.

Goals:
1. Provide a livelihood for local farmers using the land sustainably while providing healthy food.
2. Expand to other communities in the oneVillage Foundation network, identifying where ecological devastation is occurring and organizing communities to bring and end to those practices and restore the land - restorative economics.
3. Teach villagers and farmers how to market traditionally-produced crops as organic, and how to do the record keeping necessary for organic certification.

Target Groups: African Farmers
