Kafui Amenu Prebbie, is volunteer to Digital
Bridging and believes in youth development efforts
aimed at continental development. As Ghana's Information
Communication Technology Ambassador (ICT) Youth Ambassador
(2001), he has supported various efforts locally,
continentally and internationally. In line with that,
he Co-founded the African
Youth Initiative project and designed the CatchITYoung
project as legacy for the next generation. He represented
Ghana at the International Telecommunication Union
(ITU) Telecom Africa 2001, South Africa where he had
the opportunity to partake in various workshops and
address various international media representatives.
As President of the Apple Computer Club, a student
ICT4D club at the University of Education, Winneba-Ghana,
he had the opportunity to put to practice his thoughts
on bridging the digital divide. Alongside, he took
keen interest in academic work at University where
he studied Mathematics, Physics and Educational Psychology,
which lead to the award of an Academic Merit Award
in 2001.
Kafui became a teacher by profession after he graduated
from a three-year course leading to a Professional
Teaching Certificate by the University of Cape Coast
in Ghana and his hard work earned him the "Best Science
Teacher" in his district in 1999, the youngest in
the history of the award.
As a strong organizer, he also became the Vice President
of the Optical Society of America student chapter,
which studied and advanced the science of light. His
activities concentrated on the use of light in communication.
With an interest to expand his horizon and affect
his generation, he has attended various workshops
and addressed audiences of mixed abilities. In Ghana,
he is a regular participant in programs including
"Young and Wise" - a monthly AIDS seminar organized
by the Ghana AIDS Commission and Planned Parenthood
Association of Ghana, Cyber Series - monthly ICT seminar.
Kafui is aware of the devastating effect of AIDS
and thus developed "Sports
People That Care" for oneVillage Foundation -
a project that supports HIV awareness creation and
generates funds into a central HIV/AIDS Fund to support
the HIV/AIDS infected and affected, especially orphans.
Kafui believes "Life is all about learning and solving
problems" thus wishes to legacy for the next generation
to learn from. The time to be an ACTOR is now.
