| Information & communications
technologies (ICT) are powerful tools to help Ghana
rapidly develop its economy. This includes increasing
collaboration and access to ICT in under-served communities
through secondary and tertiary education, technology
education, community empowerment, health monitoring
and education, resources accessibility, economic development,
facilitating local content creation and dissemination,
and building bridges among digital communities locally.
Considerable time and effort have been
invested in ICT for Development efforts in Ghana. This
includes a leadership role in the formation of national
ICT policies focusing on youth and organizing youth
activists. Our ICT augmented development and training
programs put personal development and team building
at the forefront of this effort.
Goals:
 |
Increase the
access to ICT in under-served communities to
address the digital divide and increase economic
opportunity. |
 |
Accelerate
local content creation and dissemination ensuring
Ghana's Voice is heard within the global society. |
 |
Promote community
oriented sustainable development model for Ghana. |
Strategy
OVF Ghana's strategy is to develop oneVillage
Initiative (OVI) through income generating, social enterprises.
The proceeds from these ventures will fund the development
of Multi-purpose
(Unity) Centers, starting initially
with the set up of Open
Digital Villages. These centers will facilitate
and promote integrated/multi-sectorial development approaches
as consistent with the development model put forward
in our OVI approach. This program in Ghana will demonstrate
the compelling need for integrated and whole systems
approaches to development at the grassroots level.
